NASA WB-57 Obsolescence Engineering Services

Elevate Systems has played a pivotal role in sustaining the WB-57 high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft by addressing critical fuel probe obsolescence issues. The WB-57, operated by NASA, relies on specialized fuel probes to ensure accurate fuel management during extended missions. However, with the original components no longer in production and replacement parts scarce, there was an urgent need to provide solutions to sustain these essential assets.
Our team conducted a detailed teardown, test, and evaluation (TT&E) of the existing fuel probes, identifying wear patterns, material properties, and failure points to develop a comprehensive technical solution.
Elevate Systems provided a detailed analysis of alternatives (AoA), offering NASA multiple options for improving durability and performance while ensuring supportability. We then worked closely with the NASA WB-57 sustainment team to qualify and validate the repaired components, successfully bringing multiple fuel probes back to operational status.
Through our expertise in sustainment engineering, legacy system support, and obsolescence mitigation, Elevate Systems helped restore availability of these critical components, ensuring continued mission readiness for NASA’s WB-57 fleet.
